Private Functions

Set in the historic New Zealand Railways Shipping Office, restored and relocated to its current lakefront Frankton Marina setting in 1936, The Boatshed Cafe & Bistro is the perfect place for your private function. Our prime location offers a stunning backdrop for any occasion, with views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables mountain range right on our deck.

Whether it’s a special occasion, corporate event or your work’s Christmas party, we can offer you an unforgettable experience in a unique setting.

The Boatshed café and Bistro is fully licensed until 22:00.


Option 1:

20 to 50 Guests – seated (weather dependent)

This option can be as formal or as informal as you desire. All dishes are served to the tables as platters for guests to share.
Select two mains, three sides and one dessert option:

Entrée:

• Antipasto plate, ham, venison salami, brie, sun dried tomato, basil pesto, hummus, crostini (GFO)
• Pan fried squid, egg noodles, lime & cucumber sambal, peanuts, spring onions, chili, hoisin sesame dressing
• Roasted pumpkin, red onion, confit garlic, curly kale, harissa & cashew dressing, black quinoa, toasted seeds & greens (VG, GF, DF)

Mains

• Garlic & rosemary marinated beef sirloin, medium, creamy polenta, seasonal veg, red wine jus (GFO)
• Stewart Island salmon tataki, sesame crust, seaweed salad, steamed sushi rice, pickled vegetables, almonds (GF)
• Pappardelle pasta, seasonal veg, mushrooms, lemon cream sauce, shaved parmesan

Dessert

• Chocolate torte, cointreau oranges, rum & raisin ice cream, honeycomb (GFO)
• Earl grey tea panna cotta, almond praline and berry compote (GF)
• Gingerbread, blue cheese, quince paste

Beverage options can be selected from the current beverage menu offering local wines and beers.

Prices start from $65 per person excluding beverages
Add more mains, sides or desserts for an additional costs per head

Option 2:

Up to 80 guests – standing only (weather dependent)

All food is canapé style and is served by wait staff.

Canapé options (5 options):    

• Pulled pork sliders – house kimchi slaw & black sesame aioli
• Mount cook salmon soft shell tacos – Mexican spices , pickles & Gibson valley herbs
• Market fish & frites – fresh lemon , tartare sauce , slaw
• Chicken saltimbocca skewers – lemon aioli & Gibson valley herbs
• Mushroom, parmesan & truffle arancini balls – confit garlic aioli ( veg )
• Spanokopita bites – pesto & parmesan ( veg )
• Cheeseburger sliders – cheddar, onions, house pickles & tomato ketchup
• Caramelized onion & Blue cheese tartlets ( veg )
• Egyptian spiced chicken skewers- citrus sauce & roasted nuts
• Tomato, Basil & Prosciutto toasts ( veg )
• Kofta kebab – harissa & mint yoghurt
• Mini “ Take Out “ noodle box ( vegetarian option ) ( Beef option )
• Tomato, hummus & Feta toasts ( veg )
• Beef meatballs – spicy tomato sauce & mozzarella
• Spiced chicken drummetes – ranch dipping sauce
• Corn fritters – guacamole, tomato salsa & sour cream ( veg )
• Pumpkin, feta & pine nut parcels – tzatziki  

Sweet Canapés:
• Tiramisu shot glasses
• Mini meringues – berries & coconut whip
• Chocolate brownie bites – salted caramel
• Passionfruit Cheesecake bites
• Small cheese selection – Toasted fruit bread

Can also accommodate, warm baked breads + house made dips as an additional top up later on in the evening

$25 is based on the selection of four main canapes and two dessert canapes
